Balasore/Langaleswar: A tragic event unfolded in Balasore district when a 13-year-old boy took his own life after his family limited his access to online gaming, according to police reports.
The young boy, Jayakrushna Jena, was a Class VIII student and the son of Santosh Jena from Guhalipada village, who had been spending considerable time playing online games and watching videos on his mobile device. His family had expressed concerns about his gaming habits, leading to a confrontation with his mother on Tuesday morning when she urged him to focus on his studies instead.
Following this argument, Jayakrushna retreated to the bathroom, where he tragically hanged himself using a towel. After a prolonged absence, family members broke down the door and discovered him hanging. He was immediately taken to Basta Community Health Centre, where he was pronounced dead by medical staff.
The Singla police have registered a case of unnatural death (26/25), performed a post-mortem examination, and subsequently returned the body to the grieving family.
